Obama v. McCain on the economy

Two ads by the candidates discussing the turmoil in the financial markets. The tone and style of both are remarkably different, but I’m not sure why Obama’s ad is two minutes long while McCain’s is only 30 seconds. If the ads are legitimately comparable — that is, if Obama bought two minutes of ad space versus McCain’s 30 seconds — then there is no comparison. Barack Obama is presented as a serious presidential candidate, while John McCain comes off as a slightly loony and delusional used-car salesman.

Update: My assumption was correct, and the ads are comparable.
