I do not advocate drug use, but prohibition continues to be one of the biggest mistakes this country continues to make. The “war on drugs” will never, ever be won. The problem is not of a social or even medical nature. It’s a problem of economics, and as any good economist will tell you, you simply cannot beat the market. I really wish the US would reinvest the $600 per second that is spent on drug-law enforcement on something more needed, like properly funding education or making sure that no child ever goes hungry again.
