The more I read about the expansion of the Silver Line the less I like it. The fact that using buses over trains will cost a premium of $600 million and will not be as nearly as efficient is disturbing enough, but the fact the plan will destroy the valuable infrastructure already in place for an inferior method of mass transit makes it even more ridiculous. It makes me wonder where the MBTA’s true dedication lies - with the people who will actually ride the system or with the developers who are salivating over the idea of a $1.2 billion boondoggle which will have to replaced shortly after it is completed.
