It’s been a really bad week for the T. Yesterday the Red Line completely shut down during rush hour, and today a 24 year-old trolley operator passed away in a horrific Green Line collision.

Boston MBTA density map →
Incredible map showing the effective range of every subway stop on the T. The gigantic section of blue circles near the middle and left? That is the downtown Boston area and the wealthy suburbs. That large section with no blue circles where Rte 28 and Blue Hill Avenue is? That is the poorest and most crime-ridden section of the city. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Top Underground Transit Systems in the World →
Interesting list, especially because it’s from an international perspective. I was particularly impressed with Hong Kong’s system.

California Court Affirms Right to Gay Marriage -... →
It’s nice to see another state other than Massachusetts get some sense and stop discriminating against gay couples. I remember the uproar when the Supreme Judicial Court in MA made same-sex marriage legal — people who did not like the idea were talking about how it would end society as we know it. Guess what, it didn’t happen.
