“They [corporations] believe in the free market for profit, but they want to...”
– Bill Maher (via peterbaker) Maher is a freak, but this is a very true statement.

I’ve been reading a lot lately, simply devouring books. I wanted a place to write about some of what I’ve been reading, so I made it. There’s nothing there yet, but there will be.

The Zapruder Film, Stabilized  →
I’ve seen this quite a few times now, and it still shocks me a bit.  Update: Here’s another take, in slow motion with a lot of close-up views of the film with frame numbers.

“The government says drugs are illegal because they’re bad for you, and...”
– Chris Rock. I do not advocate drug use, but prohibition continues to be one of the biggest mistakes this country continues to make. The “war on drugs” will never, ever be won. The problem is not of a social or even medical nature. It’s a problem of economics, and as any good...

“If there is a God, he has an inordinate fondness for beetles.”
– My favorite quote from Letter to a Christian Nation, by Sam Harris, refering to the 350,000 known species of beetles. Harris himself is quoting J. B. S. Haldane, the British evolutionary biologist.

M.T.A. Director Calls for Ambitious Expansion -... →
I really feel like this is why NYC will always be considered a superior city to Boston. The leaders always seem to be more in-tuned to what is needed for future expansion of their city, and have the balls to actually pull it off. Public transportation is the future of this country, and New York gets that. Boston does not.

They found it excellent, as I did the few times I went before the review. Angela’s makes the best mole sauce I have ever eaten.
